Current situation with the platform

These are answers to questions which Kevin raised

1. What are the outstanding issues with the new CIVIC web portal?
- Mailing list integration
- Translation
- Theme
- Editorial Policy/Terms of Use

2. Do we need to set up a development/test environment to resolve these issues before and/or after the migration? Who will resolve them and by when?

We had done some testing and the issues were fixed of the existing features. Other faults can be reported and we can work on fixing them.

3. Do we automate the migration of the current members' names, e-mail addresses, self introductions, etc. from the mailing list to the new platform?
Names and email addresses had been migrated about 12 months or so ago. However, new users should send an email to vidyak1 at gmail dot com for addition.

The self introductions could not be imported easily. The new platform allows for some more user information like photo, CV, interests etc.

4. Or, do we have all members re-register with CIVIC using the new platform?
You should not have to.

5. Do we move forward without automatic translation of e-mail messages?
I propose we do that for now.

6. Are we, the members of CIVIC, really ready to use these "channels" or should we just defer this feature for a later release of the platform?

The channels are available. One is there for HipCAr, and hopefully Hallam will be the first guinea pig to test moderate this channel discussion. Valerie will be moderating another channel on the CIVIC strategic plan. Other moderators can use their channels.

7. What documents and other resources do we want to migrate from the current system to the new system?

We had agreed to migrate all documents from the old resources and to cease adding new ones, I suggest by 30 June, we agree to upload documents on this platform only.

8. Who will do what by when?
We had a platform working group. Members who use can report faults. At the moment, I have assumed responsibilities for co-ordinating the migration/adjustment to the new platform and would welcome the revival of the working group to track the different aspects of this migration.
