Recommendations for CIVIC representation at e-Government Meeting

Here's my response to Hallam's request for approval to represent our virtual community at the second Caribbean e-Government planning workshop.

Hallam said:

Redemption song - Nostalgia for CIVIC of the past...

It's taken me months to send this... written at the end of our Juan Dolio meeting... didn't want to spoil the party and I was just happy to see and meet and spend time with everyone...

But with the eminent launch of CIVIC 2.0, and nothing stopping it, I guess it's OK to whimper a little about the past ;-)

If anything, ignore my senseless whimpering and just listen to Bob Marley's rendition of Marcus Garvey's original message to "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our mind" in his solo "Redemption Song" and see how you associate it with us, you, all...

Free Culture in the Making

Back in the 80's, an American composer and producer (I'm pretty sure it was Stu Phillips, of The Six Million Dollar Man, McCloud, Battlestar Galactica and The Amazing Spider-Man themes fame) composed the theme for
the TV series Knight Rider in the 80's.

10 years later, an unknown British Indian musician, Panjabi MC, mixed it with bhangra music and created an unprecedented underground success, in particular thanks to the still new and expanding Internet.
